Thank you for this question. I do think this convergence points toward many chronic and post infectious conditions reflecting systems level dysregulation, instead of isolated brain or peripheral pathology. The bidirectional loop between systemic inflammation, neuroinflammation, autonomic function, and metabolism is increasingly supported across disease contexts. But, current evidence suggests it’s unlikely that targeting inflammation in a single compartment alone is sufficient for sustained recovery. Neuroinflammation appears to act more as an amplifier within a broader network of immune, vascular, metabolic, and neural processes. Where this theme is most powerful is in moving us toward mechanism based approach instead of symptom based…. an area that this field is actively evolving.

Thank you! The idea of neuroinflammation as a shared thread has helped me make sense of what otherwise looks like an overwhelming diversity of disorders and I’m glad this article resonated.
